Hi guys, i want help, . . . . again
Atm i am saving for a cd deck, n i have a few in mind, just wanting some advice, experience etc please!
Dont even mention CDJ-1000's cause i am not spending that much on one for Home use and stuff, its just out of my league.
But then i want full effects, looping, scratching! Hence not stuff like CDJ-100's.
Basically I was looking at American Audio Pro-Scratch 2
(http://www.americandj.com/product.a...&cat=CD_Players)
or the Numarks. Any help please?? |

hey matt,
i have no exp with any other cd decks other than pioneers.
try look at the CDJ-800's or are they to pricey? but ive been using CDJ-100's at home do the job perfectly, some ppl complain about them saying they are hard o use but thats BS... if u learn on the 100's then u will be able to use any cdj out there.
thats my 2 cents, doesnt really help hehe sorry |

thanks cam, i would get the cdj-100's if it was just for mixing, but i really want all effects and stuff as well, simply because playing at parties and stuff, if you use that kinda stuff you just win, plus they are great fun. haha thanks man :) |

I've used the CDJ-800 for a bit..
They're pretty good. Not as many features as the 1000s, but I don't think anyone uses the extra features.
If u can afford them then that's what I would get.
Should be able to get a good second hand pair for $800 each. |

your profile says ur in sydney, so head over to lightsounds. They had a pack with 2 cdj800s and the top of the line pioneer mixer (dont ask me the model number, ive gone blank) for $3800. Not a bad saving.
I spent a touch over a grand on my first setup, it consists of a pair of American Audio (/American DJ) PRO-DJ2's and a Behringer DJX400 (rip off of the similarly named pioneer model). They basically have more features than the pioneer cdj100's but for a lot less. I got the decks ex-demo and the mixer brand new, but at a discount. The longevity of the american audio/dj stuff is probably nowhere near that of the pioneer, but that said ur not paying anywhere near the price.
If you like the Pro Scratch 2s, also look at the PSX's and have a little poke around and you might find some new Pro scratch 1s. The good thing too, lightsounds hires out the pro scratches, so you can often strike a deal with them so that if you hire a set mid week for a night or 2, they might be able to give you a pretty good discount when it comes to purchasing.
Whatever you do get, just try to use them for a few hours first.
Something to consider too, a lot of clubs use the pioneer cdj's, so its worth familiarising yourself with them at least.
Finding pioneer cdj800's second hand may be difficult though. |

| I've got a couple of 100's and they've got 3 effects: "jet", "zip" and "wah". Pretty basic but useful nonetheless. |

Well being an avid user of the 100's myself, i don's see anthing wrong with them :) get the100's...
But that's just my biased opinion :D |

what effects are you looking for? some of the new cd decks have dozens of wierd and wonderful effects, but will you really use them? might be better getting seperate fx kit.
if you really want to scratch, you're going to have to look in the high end of the market. scratch emulation like on my cmx3000 works fine for the occasional messing around, but is nowhere near enough if you want to scratch seriously. loops are great to have once you figure how/when to use them.
i'd look for the cdj800, quite a bit lessthan the 1000, or the dns-3000. not cheap, but from the list of requirements you gave cheap decks won't cut it. |
