A few days ago someone got ahold of a past version of the World of Warcraft Alpha.
The guys over at Warforge (hacked all other online blizzard games, and other things) are busy creating a emulated server. They have already created one with no NPCs or quests/items, so you can just explore.
Right now the 1.98 GB set of alpha files are floating around IRC. And since this board doesn't support warez, PM me for more details.
Right now, there is a crack out that lets you into the character creation screen. But without a server or a login, you can't do much else at the moment. Its still fun though =P
Many new screenshots have been released though, and also sound-bites extracted from the WoW files.

This is just some of what is going on.
Also, Katricia(new blizzard rep for WoW forums) posted about this today confirming the leak and announced that the World of Warcraft beta signups would begin at the end of this month. HOORAY! So even if a alpha server does not get up and running, the warforge guys might attempt it on a beta one. Though, if I get into the beta I wont be worried about it too much =P.

Well, right now the warforge guys say they aren't planning to release their server... =/ But another group is trying to get a sandbox single-player server out to everyone asap. Though, warforge may release theirs at a later date.
Though, if i get into beta, then I wont even care about this anymore =P |

| warforge never releases their servers anyway, well ever since the wc3 beta debacle. i think you are confusing an actual release so people could run their own servers, with warforge releasing the tools so people may play on their server. |

| Whatever the case may be in terms of this leak, I am totally pumped for this game. My friend has told me all of this stuff about it, sounds great. Its scheduled for release in June, though I bet it gets pushed back until Fall. Lets hope for the best, I guess. :toocool: |
