Hey, Im new too the trance scene and the website (which is great btw). Im not 21, so its not exactly easy to get into clubs anywhere, but do you guys know of any places here in Madison WI that play good trance? Ive heard of Club Majestic.. and unfortunetly couldnt go because i heard about it on the 20th, not before the 10th. My taste is in stuff like Cor Fijneman, Chicane, GTR, and DJ Tiesto (I like his Club Space gig alot). But anyways, I'd love to goto a live performance, but I dont know of any places to look for. Any tips?

Majestic is pretty much where it's at for trance right now. I'm working there and getting ppl in to spin trance on Wednesdays pretty frequently, but there aren't many DJ's in town that spin the style you speak of. I think I'm really the only one, at least as far as spinning out around town regularly. There are some others that spin more of the proggy style, but most who've been into the underground scene over the years are more into psytrance or hard acid trance. There's still a bit of a bias against our style of trance, especially amongst house DJ's (inferiority complex or something).
Sit tight and good things will come when ya turn 21. There's a TON of ppl I talk to that are turning 21 in the next year or so, so I believe there will be a full on trance explosion in late 2004 or early 2005!
In the mean time, get some decks and some trance vinyl and get yourself in before you're 21 the legal way, by WORKING in a club as a DJ! :D |

| i hear getting started as a dj isnt so easy (but doable).. is it expensive for a set of tables, mixer, and a decent selection of vinyls? at my highschool theres a recording studio with synths, and just got the newest Cubase in... plus theres synths for all the computers at the lab. since I am a guitarist, I might try and get a guitar synth and start with that AND turn tables for uniqueness. But this all costs money, I guess it'd be good to start working. |
