The Ukranian Village restaurant at the corner of Denman/Robson is a personal fave of mine. It's not fancy, but it's rich down home cooking if you're into cabbage rolls and perogies. The best restaurant in the whole city is Memphis BBQ! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I spent most of my life around Memphis, TN; but the food is Vancouver's best, bar none! Go there if you want to find out what real food is all about. Forget about that raw fish garbage and thousand year old eggs. C'mon people! :tongue2
While I'm at it, I'm always on the search for kick-ass Indian restaurants. Any suggestions? The two that I frequent the most now are India Gate at Robson/Granville across from the new Future Shop and Sitar Restaurant at 8 Powell Street where Gastown sort of ends and the sketch begins. Viva chili chicken and lamb vindaloo!!!
Cheers! |

Love hearing about new places to eat, lets keep this thread going.
Indian food. I dont like creamy over sweet indian food. So i go to the Kewal Cafe on broadway and main. The place has been there for longer than I have been alive. Its total veggie and really plain idian but I can get it so damn hot I love it.
The next place is Siam, its a thai restaurant on Broadway one block east of cambie. It has the best Thai for the money. Lunch time you can get an awsome red curry chicken for like 6 bucks with rice veggies and spring roles. Be careful how hot you ask for cause they like it piping hot at this place. Almost burnt my beautiful face off one time on my stir fry.
The third place is Kintaro, This place is awsome. I have even read about it in really big vancouver magazines as a top place to eat. Kintaro is a Ramen noodle house. This place serves up mean portions of japanese pork based noodle soup. So so good, especially on a cold ass wet Van city day. Of all the places I mentioned this is the one to hit up. I have never had food like this anywhere is the world.
Hope you all like these. I know that they will not be to everyones liking but some people who have good taste will enjoy. |
