I got Halo but I'm not really a gamer and this is not my thing, I guess. I have a good PC so I figured I should have at least one good game, that's why I got Halo. But when I start playing, it's hard to not spend 4+ hours. Halo seems more like a job (killing aliens) and isn't much fun. I haven't tried online yet - how is that?
I have a fast PC and graphics card and Halo sometimes runs slow, especially when there is a lot of battle action, and there is one annoying bug, it occasionally gets hung but will recover if I wait long enough, that is disappointing, everything else runs great on my PC.
I've tried the demo of Battlefield 1942, not my thing either. Anyone have game recommendations? Maybe I should get Flight Sim - it's not really a game but I've liked the previous versions. |

| yep - i play it - imo the xbox version is better basically beacause it came two years before the pc version and they don't bother to make any real enhancements to the pc version! |

| I play halo use to use gamespy dunno if that still works and Halo is not the best game ever made or anything could have been if they had released it for the comp so many years ago when it was being developed, but Halo is fun playing with system link |

As i have a Mac and university i have little access to PC's on which i can play games, so as far as i see it UT2003 is the best IMO, not yours |

I'm probably going to get Halo just to test it out since i have some spare $. I played it at a horrible computer center and i think i didnt have any fun 'cus the machines were so ed up (i paid $4 an hour for a system that runs CS as 25fps). However, before our time ran up, me and my friend fired up the multiplayer and i think it was pretty good (rockets only).
about PC vs Console, i am a multiplayer freak. I definently had a blast with multiplayer on N64 with Goldeneye. But nowadays i go for PC versions since:
1. massive multiplayer
2. Independent mods and downloadable content
3. graphics
I'll still play my PS2 from time to time, but i'd rather much play NFS on PC than using the PS2 network card |

Halo for PC is garbage...
The graphics engine is sluggish as hell.
Gameplay is boring.
Vehicles are meh.
Maps are boring.
Simplistic, boring... first person shooters need to be left to the PC world.

1. Halo single player is stupid. Its redundant, boring, and uninteresting. The levels all have you doing the same thing over and over and over and over.
2. Halo multiplayer is the best out of all games. The levels are great, the weapons are great, and the game engine is slowed down when compared to other FPS games to allow for great skillful one-on-one duels.
3. The PC version still needs to be patched up due to the horrible net code. Hit detection and lag hiccups all occur because of the net code in its current state. Its still fun to play online, but 6 months from now, it will be even better.
4. You can just do LAN to enjoy playin next to your friends. But that does require a lot of space, computers, and wires.
5. Halo is pretty much the only game I play online now. That will change soon enough (Final Fantasy XI will be mine soon), but for now, Halo is the way to go for multiplayer action. |
