Hey all sorry for the lame'ness of my question but i cant seem to understand how you apply FX such as distortion etc to either an audio track or midi track in cubase SX, Also how is it possible to have the values of the effect change i.e graduly build it etc?

Any help or pointers is most appreciated.

Thanks:D
hey cheggy
Okay, firstly distortion is an audio fx, so you can't apply it to a midi track. If you press F3, you will open up the track mixer. In there, you will find the audio channel that comes from the midi track.

Go into Devices --> VST send effects --> Select your distortion plugin.

Now, on the audio channel that you want to apply the distortion to, on the left, click on "sends" (I think its called sends), in the drop menu for send 1, select the distortion plugin. Use the bar to determine the amount you want to send to the plugin. To change the amount, on the audio channel, click the little + sign in the bottom left corner of the info bar. This will drop down the automation channel for that specific channel. Click on the "W" (write enable). Hit record and change the amount of the send as you want it to change in time with the track. When you're done, hit "R" (Read enable) to let it read these changes.

I'm not looking at Cubase now, but I think that is all right. If it doesn't work, let me know adn I'll fire up my computer and do a step by step for ya.

off subject.. but how much does cubase cost?
Etherium
It all depends on which version you want?
Go to Audiomidi for pricing.

As an average, around $500.00.
