Gday all, i got a problemo. I recently got my Half-Life CD back off a mate after about 2 years, and with the new spiffy computer (when i first got it, we had a piece of ) i thought i'd give it another play. Well here's the problem, the graphics are whack. It paints the levels perfectly n it runs smoothly etc, but all the models dont seem to draw themselves? Here's what I mean.
Now I'm guessing its something to do with my setup which (maybe) is a tad more advanced than that of the technology back in 98. Here's my specs
AthlonXP 1800
512meg PC-2700 RAM
MSI KT-3 Ultra Mobo
MSI Geforce4 Ti4200 128meg
2x80gig RAID 0
Maybe DirectX 9 is too advanced from when HL ran on 7? I also downloaded the latest nvidia drivers and have installed em but it still doesn't work.
Anybody got any ideas as what's making this happen? Ta |

Sorry but thats the most ridiculous answer ever.
And dont worry about dx9, your video card isnt a dx9 card anyways so thats not an issue.
First, make sure you have the latest detonator drivers for your card. Check www.nvidia.com . Stock drivers out of the box REALLY REALLY blow and can cause these problems. Also try updating Half Life to the latest version.
Next, try other games. Does it do the same thing? If so, either your ram, video card, or mobo are hosed. The textures don't load because they're getting lost somewhere between the 3.
If updating your drivers dont work, and other games do, try reinstalling HL. If it does the same thing, check your HL CD. If its scratched and , theres a very small chance it had difficulty copying files over. However, this is very unlikely, since all textures, sounds, and models are contained within the gigantic pak0.pak file, which, if damaged, probably wouldnt copy over in the first place. |

| Nah tis all sweet now, downloaded the latest patch n it all looks sweet :) So much easier being able to see how many bullets you got left n ur health etc. I've played up until Xen with that bull where you're left informationless - funny stuff in amidst some massive battle then to have ur Mp5 run outta ammo all of a sudden, heeheh :) |
