did you maybe think that the ppl from fnk are the quasi overdosing people falling over on the dance floor?
the review I got from a friend from DC is this
Spooky 8, the rave, was okay. It was not that crowded around - 3K
people. The venue was crappy. It was in a very large kinda fancy barn
out in Chilliwack which is WAY out there - about 1.5 hrs out of
Vancouver. The sound was fickle - you had to stand just right to get
good sound. Thank god for the shuttle service! I felt old surrounded
by so many kids. Most folks were in their teens and early 20s. They
weren't very knowledgable about music either.
The highlight of the night was Thrillseekers. They really rocked it and
I was really impressed! Very proggy trance set. Lange was okay - not
very inspiring. Rank 1 was also okay. I was disappointed because I
thought they would have been better given everything I've heard about
them. They spun a dj set. Whereas Thrillseekers really had continuity
and a "story" behind their set. Rank One seemed to just be cranking out
tracks. If Thrillseekers comes back to Toronto, I'd be willing to see
them again :) Olav was also good in the house room. He played a Deep
House set. There was also a really good breaks dj that had a Hybrid
like sound.
All in all, I was really glad to have gotten back to Vancouver. It's
been 3 long years since I've been there. I got to meet up with an old
friend and reconnect. I spent most of my Saturday recovering at a beer
hall and making small talk. I still love the area but Vancouver has
definitely grown as a city and it isn't as friendly as I remember it. It
was really hard to meet people at Spooky - I was kinda missing that
toronto vibe. There also is no frickin' scene in Vancouver. For the
size of the city, it is really very sleepy. The clubs seem to cater to
hip hop more than anything else. Toronto is a much better city for
clubbing.
That's all for now. I'm really hoping to come up for Oakenfold and see
if I can help my brother and sis-in-law come up for it too. :) Can't
wait. I miss the Guv! ;)

nwo I dont think this opinion is valid for all of Van, but apparently this rave was lacking something.:conf: |

Didn't he miss this party cause he had food poisoning?
Apart from where they mention the clubs here in Vancouver, I don't think this is very valid opinion either. |
