it's true that the skytrain is comparable to the metro in terms of getting you far, fast...but you gotta admit that really fast trains way underground are just so much cooler :p
and as for the buses...i'll let this little anecdote speak for me: tonight, i waited 40 MINUTES in the freezing winds for a bus to come along to take me to a class...it didn't show up, i had to take another, incredibly inconvenient route to get to class and was thus 40 minutes late...and to add insult to injury, as i was walking toward my school, i noticed the EXACT BUS THAT I NEEDED TO CATCH IN THE FIRST PLACE passing by...and i was late, inconvenienced and freezing my arse off. $63 a month is a ing rip-off for that kind of ty service. Maybe it's just my bus route, though. |

| actually, metro in montreal took you EVERYWHERE, in vancouver, skytrain only takes you through the bigger parts of the vancouver area. there's no skytrain in richmond, most of coquitlam, surrey, burnaby north, southern part of vancouver, north van. the vancouver area is huge, but skytrain only covers a small portion of it. you gotta bus to most places, and i agree, buses can be a pain in the ass |

they are planning to build a skytrain into richmond down no 3 rd.
The skytrain does go to coquitlam and surrey, but it only goes to like 1 or 2 stops, same with new west... and from there, they expect u to get off, take another bus, and from there another.. etc
Our system works in hubs. Every bus goes to one central spot, u get off and take another to where u want to go.
as for rent, can't tell you that much, anywhere from 500-2000 a month, depends where and how big. The closer you get to downtown vancouver, the more expensive, regardless of size. If you go on outskirts or south vancouver or richmond or whatever its like 800-1000. Look into getting a roomie or two and a 2-3 bedroom place or something and split the cost. |

north van has the sea bus, which is kinda inconvenient. when I was on the way to go home from Plaza of Nations party with my friends, we took the first skytrain around 7:30am. Then, we had to wait like 30 min or so to get the first sea bus as long as I can remember... |
