Nar my mixer @ home does'nt have a VU meter, if it did i'd use it tho. I don't know any1 who's got VU's who doesn't use them over gains, to monitor levels, especially in a club.

That makes no sense lol

my mixer has main out VU metre, but not PFL / channel gains.

VU metres on channels are cool, when youve got them, but once again, its down to the ure own ear to determine levels.

How i do it when i have NO VU metre for cue'd track is - turn gain down slightly, then adjusting gain while opening the channel fader, bring in the next track at the same level.

Anyway, thing is, Channel ends up fully open, and gain is in right place, all having done by ear.

i got to use a xone32 on sat (breifly) in the club, and although only dropped a couple tracks, found having gain at back really didnt matter :)

i was just blown out by the fact how smooth that mixer is!

Channels fade perfectly.

Yeah very true, you'll always end up matching the gains by ear. The advantage of VU meters is that you can set the gains at a proper level for the sound equipment, to prevent clipping. Gotta take this into account when matching gains for sure!
