me too.

this game's entire existence pisses me off.

it would have been fine had they called it "final fantasy online", and then continued building the next game in the series for everyone else to play.. but nooo, they had to make an online only game. that. i dont want to deal with script kiddies speaking like 12 year olds asking me for money all the time. and/or having to communicate with anyone else on the internet in a game. if i wanted that, id play an online game, not the next game in the final fantasy series.

so, i just have to wait for 12, which is just ridiculous. BOO.

why on earth would they not have a fee? do you think they have servers somewhere with limitless bandwidth that they just want to give to people indefinitely?

note: this game is supposed to come bundled with the hard drive (no choice, you cant buy the game seperately) for something like 90 bucks. hooray! so you can spend 90 bucks on the game, and then keep paying to play the game you *already bought* online.

<--has never understood why people shell out money for MMORPGs.. what a waste of time and money.

kinda contradicted yourself there

why would they shell out the money? read what you said before that about the servers,
online games such as Counter Strike are free because you have to host the server yourself.. in FFXI the servers are provided for you,so is customer support, live events, updates and they need funding to make expansions dont they?

and i see youve never played an MMORPG to such an extent as to realize how fun they truly are. living in a fantasy world you sort of become a part of it, some people become very addicted to it. but for me. ill get bored durin the winter.. nowhere to go. raining/snowing outside dont wanna go outside. just wanna wake up,make myself some hot chocolate.. and indulge myself into a fantasy world where i can communicate with real people.

and as for the 12 year old part. once you make it past the early levels youll find very very few immature people, since they tend to give up after a while.

actually, its $12. the game itself will be quite a bit ($99) because it comes with a 40 gig hd.

i didnt contradict myself at all ;)

i personally understand why monthly fees are a necessity. im simply saying that i dont see why players continously shell money out of their pocket for a game they already paid a large amount for, and in addition, (basically) cant beat. (everquest, anyone?) its a personal choice, i suppose. i would rather spend the same amount of money to purchase a game that i can play, beat, and then replay if i want to.

ive played online rpgs. i personally play rpgs because i enjoy the story, i enjoy playing them. not because i can get on a server and watch other people running around, casting magic spells, and "progressing" through the game (which only means building up your character and getting stuff, since most MMORPGs have no ending).

ive watched my sister be addicted to everquest for years now. all she does when she gets home is plays that game. for what? thats all i want to know. she doesnt do it for the online community, cause she doesnt give a about that.

again, a matter of personal preference.

if i want the online experience, ill go to forums, or sit and talk in the hub i download anime in, in Direct Connect. games and people to me, are seperate. i already pay a ridiculous amount of money per month for my internet connection.. why should i have to pay more just to play a game? (again, i know WHY the money is needed, im just saying i think the concept of paying extra is silly). because of that, id rather get online when i need to, and play my games when i need to.

but really, thats all personal preference. my main issue with FF11 is that they are labeling it the next in the series, giving no offline option, thus making everyone else who doesnt like online games sit around a few more years waiting for the next one. lame.

haha your sister plays that game 24/7 ? damn i used to do that a couple years ago. but now that im i drive i have lots of things to do, before i was just bored.
and now i get bored sometimes even when i do drive. like when its raining and im just in the mood to sit and play a game
thats why cant wait till FF11 comes out

and as for the price

who cares buy it for PC. its better that way anyway. it sucks for ps2. imagine rollin around on your bed tryin to type with a keyboard
just too confusing

mmorpg = pc

But hey, it gives them that much more time to develop the game. Which in turn should be one hell of a game! Yes it is annoying, but there is FFX-2 to play (If you were a fan of FFX that is...) :nervous:
