"we all know downloading mp3 played a part in the downfall of lightning records.. obviously we do not want that to happen again, bonzai is still one of the best if not THE best label out there!
i came up with an idea that could reduce the number of people downloading bonzai material and that could result in extra revenues as well..
it's all about availability: most of the releases are on vinyl, that is a fact. the problem with that is that lots of people who are into bonzai music do not have any decks. in other words, vinyl is useless to them. therefore cd compilations are their only source for bonzai material. not many people are a fan of compilations, because most of the time it does not feature full length versions, plus they do not get to purchase all the songs they want. for example, they like 8 songs on the cd, but the other 6 do not please them at all. result: quite a number of people don't buy the compilation and go download the 8 songs they like.
the solution is a system where the "customer" gets to compile his own cd. he selects a number of songs he wants, he places the order and that's that. i think this is a formula for succes, because the vinyl rips that are available for download on the internet are usually not of the highest quality, and the problem where one half of the compilation tracklist looks great but the other half doesn't is solved. in other words, he has the freedom of choice and the tracks he wants will be high quality.
it can be a simple online procedure. bonzai puts up audio clips (2 to 3 minutes) of their newest releases and/or classics on their site, people check them out and put a little 'v' next to the tracks they want, they fill out a form (name, address, how to pay) and submit it. bonzai compiles the cd accordingly, sends it to the customer and there we are: happy customer. charge about 1€ to 1€50 per song, and we have a very interesting system!
i think something like that will be a succes, because over the last few years bonzai has become more and more well-known across the world. a system like that makes the music lover happy, and the succes of the system makes you guys happy. i think it is a win-win situation! and it is better than selling mp3, because after one has bought the mp3 he can still share it with others..
any thoughts?" |
