I just recorded one set from my mixer to my computer and i think the volume is too low. Record at a level where you occasionally hit 0 dB and then normalize before encoding. The sound quality should not change with a normalization. All normalizing is supposed to do is find the highest level in the track, make that = 0dB then multiply all other samples by the same factor. Of course different normalize functions may work differently. But that was how our professor explained it in our audio technology class when I was in college.
