| yeah true, but nvidia once ruled ati (then came the 8500), and before that 3Dfx ruled (then came TNT)... maybe bitboys will be next to rule them all? :haha: |

ATI has incredible TERRIBLE drivers for LINUX and MAC, 3D pretty much does not work and ATI support for drivers even for WINDOWS SUX:
I have ATI Mobility 7500 video in my laptop and these suckers don't make drivers for their MOBILITY chipsets and the fuc**** DELL only has drivers for XP, 3rd party drivers don't work even on windows 2000!!
nVidia ->> is very good, drivers for everything ready and their are cards are very close in competition and price. |

Rofl maybe your overclocking it without a cooler.. and may I suggest you update them to 3.7 or maybe get the omega drivers.. And remember ati is just starting to get it compatible with linux and mac.. since nvidia tried to take over.
If you want performance just get Ati
yujie will explain heheh..
Well actually John Carmack from Doom can explain he's having trouble making doom perform smoothly with nvidia ahhah.
I have not gotten any trouble with Ati and I built it myself. I was an nvidia user like you but I switched to Ati for best performance. And no it doesn not heat up and I have 3 fans inside even with one fan off it wouldn't make a difference. Maybe you stuck it in wrong. Or just like you said your room is boiling so of course its going to heat up.. you should read the prints on all computers "must keep at room temperature" |

BASICALLY, ATI ONLY WORKS WELL WITH 2 OPERATING SYSTEMS, THAT IS:
WINDOWS 2000
WINDOWS XP
AND ALL OTHER OS's are ignored, it does work in 98SE and ME, but extremely crapily, even with your 3.7 or Omega drivers, same .
NOW, ATI makes a lot of mobile graphics from 7500 and on, and they give 0 support on them, they simply don't give a about the customers.
Now, their cards are unusable even in Windows 2000 Server or in Windows 2003 Server, simply no ing support whatsoever.
Bottom line, with ATI you get stuck on 2 OS's, and the lack of any support for LINUX and most other Windows OSs makes this card in 99.9% useless.
Now about heating up, the 9700 Pro and 9800 Pro heat up like a mother******, and don't argue, these cards are super hot, esp if u play for straight 8 hours.
Taking everything in consideration, nVidia is competing very well. |
