And the 9700 pro has tested slightly lower than the GeforceFX 5900 Ultra. ATI is much better than Nvidia. The benchmarks prove it. The 9800 pro(128mb) out did the 5900 ultra and the 9800 pro(256mb) is going to beat it by a wide margin and it still has a lower clock frequency than the 5900 ultra. |

I'm a linux newbie and I find the ATI AIW Radeon 7500 works best with Red Hat 9. I tried Mandrake and Red Hat for a Geforce 4 MX and I get super slow gameplay for UT and Q3.
Is there a way I could configure X to work the card better or is it just a ty card this Nvidia? |

I know thats true for linux, but not sure about Mac. I'll have to look into this, cause I'm considering getting a powerbook. I'm going for the 12" w/ the GeForce FX Go 5200 (32MB DDR)... but leaning towards the 15" w/ ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 (64MB DDR) now. It'll help out in a few games... yes GAMES! Quake 3, and Warcraft 3 is good enough for me, plus its for school :p

Hmm depending which Dell laptop you got, it may only be for XP. My friend just got one, and he cant even get 2000 installed :(

their nforce drivers arent that great from what I hear. also ATI's drivers have gotten better. I just switched from a nvidia to ATI cardrecently, let me just say, I havnt had any problems at all.

If Microsoft doesnt care or support 98 (and i think ME as well) why should ATI care? Basicaly M$ is not working on 9x DX so ATI has no backing.

Server ...enough said. The next windows client version wont be out until next year or 2005, code named Longhorm. Actually you do know that most server motherboards come with ATI video onboard? if they werent stable they would obvisouly not be there, and just use intel's onboard video.

I bet they are hot, but nvidia's cards are to. Have you heard them? their fan sounds like a jet engine. Maybe you just need better case circulation.
