Wee, I finally retired my P3 450MHz computer and upgraded to this custom built system (just in time for Half-Life 2):
Matrix Case X-500 Aluminum Mid Tower
Powmax 500W power supply
ASUS P4P800 Mobo
120GB Western Digital "Special Edition" hard drive
Pentium 4 2.6GHz w/ hyper-threading technology (800MHz FSB)
1GB Geil 400MHz DDR-RAM
BFG Technologies-Asylum GeForce FX 5600 256MB DDR video card
Soundblaster Audigy 2
Lite-On 52x CD-RW
Logitech Cordless MX Duo (Keyboard & Mouse)
I also got a bunch of cool things like led fans, cold cathodes, UV sensative round IDE cables, etc. This system should hold me over for the next few years hopefully ;) |

That is one nice system you got yourself there, from what ive seen, your mobo will be able to take at least a 3.4ghz p4c when it gets released.
Dont get rid of the p3 system, install linux on it and learn a new operating system, a p3 would still be fine for a internet box.
If you play a few games that realy on the mouse you may notice since its cordless its a bit slower compared to some.
Any piccys of the case with everything in? |

nice specs except for the badd/slow video card, your shouldve gotten the radeon9700np or 9800np for ~210 or ~250. the 256 ram arent going to be used effectively because the card sucks and is too underpower ot used it. the only good nvidia card is the 5900np but that is kind of overprice since u can get the radeon9800pro for the same price and better perfomance or u can get the 9800np and flash it to the pro for free :D . the motherboard you couldve got alittle cheaper for the same perfomance :D . all u need now is some thx speakers and a 19' flat
PS. whats your 3dmark03/01 score? |

My old system is going to my 11y/o sister. She'll be needing her own computer for school this year...I'm sick of her having to use mine to type reports cause she's so damn slow lol.

I only paid $200 for mine and that's with free shipping. Only problem: It's through the Post Office and they're SLOW AS HELL! My package from NewEgg, located in Cali got here faster through Fed-Ex than this video card (which I am still waiting for) from Illinois. Keep in mind, I ordered both the same day... |

| u shouldve gotten the 9700np from someplaces that sell it at 200. the 9700 are becomming rarer and rare everyday. it totally blows away the 5600ultra and any resolution with everything maxx out. today i saw at walmart a 5600ultra for $258 :whip: :whip:. u should return/exchange it for a 9700, it is much better for you and your system on future gaming. it is more future proof. |

| how much did all that cost you??? seems like the pc you got there will last you for 5-6 years. :) |
