Thrillseekers@Gas -afterthoughts

Beemer
I just drove all the way back to Cbr (didn't feel like stickin around in Sydney this time - sumtimes u just want ur own bed!!), re-playing last night's awesome set pumped out by Steve Helstrip in my head.....mmmm how good was he???

I'll leave the proper review to djway, since no doubt he'll provide us with a really nice detailed run-down of the night, as always.....but, I'll just say I was blown away - he totally surpassed my expectations :) :) and, how much fun was he having up there??? so much enthusiasm - nice one!!!

As always, was great to party with fellow TAs :) :)

misstrance - thanx for tryin with me to get ur copy of Dreaming Of You played - sux that we got in a bit too late - cos u KNOW he woulda played it if he didn't have only 2 records left :( ah well....next time!!!

oli - pm me or sumthin so i can email u ur piccies...hahahaha u sure were one happy camper :D

groovypants - awwwww, u were there??? dammit - we figured u must not've come......too bad we didn't meet after all our chattin :( so smart of us not to have thought to exchange numbers or piccies beforehand *lol* given the dodgy sat nite Gas crowd, i didn't think it would be too smart to go around asking all the guys if they were groovypants *lol* well, this just means u gotta come to John 00 now :)

sid - u were missed, big time!!!! there was a lil piece of dancefloor that was very unhappy because u weren't on it :( get better soon bub :)

well, this is turning into a random pile of rubbish, cos i need sleeeeeep....so, gonna go get some.......thanx for a great night everyone - c u at John 00!!!!

(got some great piccies - will stick a few up here 2nite)

and btw - psygnosis, u couldn't have been more wrong about him having a baby causing him to be a crap dj now.....if last night's performance is what having a baby causes, then i think he should go have 10 more right now!!!!!!!

Well, what a night!

i didnt know what to expect from the man as ive never seen him before nor really heard him mix but he was pure class.

The night began by heading over to Helen's then heading to webbys for a warm up, beemer was there also. after staying there for a little while i headed into GAS to check it out.

11pm - Bohem is packed with the usual progress crowd :nervous: and downstairs is pretty empty but Liquid m are banging out some wicked tunes. met up with spang, pinkhelmet, morphee and faz (dont know his screen name)

ill skip a bit here, basically we just chatted and waiting till 1am when Steve came on, we thought it would be hard to follow from nervous, who was banging out the likes of "second trip" and "exploration of space" but steve began well.

His set was structered perfectly, all mixes were flawless and the entire set was in key!

overall it was an amazing night and i went off, celebrating my bday from the week before! theres no place like home!

thanx to all who came; Helen, joel, alli, mark (spang), morphee, rachael, lisa (misstrance), faz, muli, wade, nat, sasha p, and any one else i forget.

not too good with the tracks lately but he did play:

Pulser - My religion (or was that nervous's last track??)
Midway - Amazon
System F - Spaceman (Matti Lanemann remix)
Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (omg went off)
Neo & Farina - Binary Refined
Darren Tate - Nocturnal Creatures !!!!!!!!
Polaroid - So Damn Beautifull (Dogzilla mix)
Aalto - Rush
Signum - Push Through
Push - Journey of Life
Push - Strange World
Solid Globe - North Pole

and a few ronald van gelderen style mixes/tracks but not proceed, maybe sustain?

anyway thats my night, great stuff!

WHAT??:conf: i never called him crap, i just said that i had a feeling it might be a bit disappointing because of the baby...but i didn't call him crap..i wouldn't call one of my idols that.

GREAT this review has made me mighty jealous :(

and looks like a fun night...damn i should have come.

if only Centrelink paid their money on time j/k. :(

See you people hopefully for Matt Darey or anything sooner.

i can't believe i missed Push Through...i always wanted to know how this song will sound on a club system.
morphee
Wow.

Preety muched summed it up.

OMG!!! That was one of the most powerful trance sets i have heard. I had a few words to him before he played and after getting a few records signed:gsmile: said it might be hard to follow Nervous after a more hard trance set by him. I was proven wrong ofcourse and steve had the whole place pumping start to finish. I had a stich i was dancing so hard at the end. This may be the start of the trance revolution in sydney as im sure a few of the HARD heads have now been converted back to the true trance sound.

Journey of Life....words cannot express my excitement when he played this. It sounded so good on a big system or any system for that matter.

Also Ronski speed- Iris was played and im sure that was the ronski speed mix of 1998. EON- Pocket damage got played aswell.

All up a great night. Lets just hope the next Halcyon gets some rewards from steves amazing set (in terms of people numbers).

Dont tell me nervous is STILL playing exploration of space!!!

Soz i couldnt come wax but i had my best mates 21st and that didnt finish till 2, so i didnt see much poiont in coming after STeve had finished!!! Went to Reason though and that was a TOP nite!!! Robbie Lowe was amazing as always and scott oliver was pumping out the goods!! Not too mention Tony delivering some amazing Trance out in the back room - Speak in Sympathy - phworrrrr!!!:gsmile: :gsmile:

All of the djs that i saw impressed the out of me - Scott Baker, Italic, Pete heery, but the top 3 - amazing sets for each of em!!! Keep up the good work Reason!!!

(and yes i do realise this is a thrillseekers appreciation thread - but screw you all i missed out!) :D
