What about Blueyonder 512k? is that DSL or Cable?

cos i gota static IP & a ty 128k upload speed but i can use active mode on direct connect. NTL static IP isnt permanent it changes every few months like blueyonders. the NTL 1gb a day is bollocks btw, its only if ur downloading like 3gb+ a day then ul geta warning i know plenty of people who go over that limit n hear nothing from em!

My pipex 512 connection is serving me lovely like ;)

I've managed to be pulling down a total 200kbps from ppl on DC, and I got 80kbps offa one guy on a t3 line :D

I just wish pipex did 1 and 2 MB connections, coz now my flatmate is sharing bandwidth, and when we both p2ping it crawls :(

If i were you, I'd stay well clear of dsl, not that it's bad, its just cable's better. With dsl you can't use active mode on direct connect, which means you only get to share with half the pplz online (passive). Also, with cable ntl you have a static IP. The drawbacks are that your upload will cripple your download, but with dsl it wont.
Also, ntl give you a 1gb a day d/l limit (so do most dsl companies, but you just re-dial and get another I.P).

I love cable, prefer it to dsl, the pings on games seem to be better, but that's prolly just cuz i'm closer (in terms of jumps) to the backbone. Would say go with ntl m8, although their customer service, so i've heard (watchdog etc) is . good luck

Nice one, cheers! ntl it is then.

Like people have said, NTL is great, unless you need their customer services for anything.

I moved house last month, i called them to let them know, and they said it would take 3 weeks for an engineer to come and fit my line, when he finally came i found out that the first woman i spoke to hadn't moved my modem when she did the address change so it wouldn't register on the network, 24 hours and 4 phonecalls later (from my mobile which used all of my credit) and i'm back online, the people at the actual cable modem technical helpline know what they're talking about, but it's an 0845 number rather than the freephone number.

Oh, and to top it all off, My mum called up to get connected for my little brother at her new house, she got an appointment in 5 days!!

twats :P

but i love my 600k line :)
