Shock tactics is always a good idea, but in saying this i do believe that the tv adverts don't go far enough. There is still a high degree of desentization because it is seen through a television screen.
I personally believe that when people are caught for drink driving, shock tactics should be applied but not through the media, how about a lovely excursion down to the morgue too see what can really happen to you, if this isn't shock tactics i don't really know what is.
And i tell you, the morgue isn't really a good place any one wants too be including me, i vowed to only go there once in my lifetime, but have been there several times now.
Maybe the rehab programs should also have "excursions" to the CCU and ICU departments of hospitals.. after seeing someone being feed through a naso-gastric tube, being ventaliated by a machine and having no sensory or motor function. The offender might actually be detered from drink driving again.
I personally believe that having education programs to school i know that we had one, didn't really help anyone... It's just the in thing to do and by increasing the age limit will just make kids want to do it more, coz its the wrong thing to do. |
