Like increasing funding for more "drink drive you're a bloody idiot" campaigns and adverts??? :conf: Well im sorry to say this, but they had no effect on me whatsoever, and i still drink 6 bottles of tequilla before stepping into the car, and refuse to drive with a blood alcohol reading of anything less then 1.05

no wait...:nervous:

come to think of it :nervous:

after being subject to some of those adverts, the exorbanant trauma i suffered from their graphic depcictions of death has left me in a fragile pysyhological state, where i continually weep by my bedside everynight, frightened and distraught about the ramifications of drinking another VB. :nervous:

no no, definitely don't increase the funding for those things! I don't think any more adverts are going to do anything. I was thinking about education through school - which the gov't has done by implementing it into the pd/h/pe syllabus. Although my education regarding drugs and alcohol hasn't deterred me what-so-ever...at least I know some facts, which is better than not knowing anything at all.
Pointy
To do with those drink drive commercials...anyone seen Requiem for A Dream? I know most probably have, but ..i watched that movie the other nite n no en anti-drug campaign put out by the government puts me off doing drugs as much as that movie has. Ughhh...just thinkin about the dudes arm now :nervous:

Well what the people who devise those shcool programs fail to realise is that 99% of teenagers will adopt the "it will never happen to me " attitude and completely disregad anything that had been previously said to them. They believe they're invincible, and in effect, will often attempt to challenge the authority that tells them "drinking and drugs are bad for you".

Not only that, but the shock/fear tatics they imploy are more akin to something out off a hollywood movie, and i'm certain that with socities growing level of tolerance towards shock/fear, it will only serve as another means to desensetise the population. I mean hey, not alot of things scare me anymore....apart from the boogyman of course:nervous:

Now an even more gullable attempt to address the whole issue were those drug guide / packs the government released a few years ago engourageing parents to address the issue with their children.

NEWS FLASH: Either parents know their kids do drugs and do nothing about it, or once confronted will not admit they do drugs, and therefore lead their parents into a false sense of security even thouigh there's a clear and evident problem.

Now i think the problem isn't going to be solved with campaings, adverts, or y leaflets, I think the only way it's going to be soved is with good parenting.

Hahahaha wouldnt that encourage people to drink?? I love the effects of alcohol. The effects are great until you are sick or pass out (which ive never done cause i know when to stop)

The real answer is to not educate people at all! I mean look at communist Russia and China etc, if you dont educate people then they dont think do they. THe more education there is the more challenge to authority etc. Not that this would work i just think its an interesting idea.

I think its mostly in parental upbringing, not always but mostly. I mean my parents were totally cool about it like yeh if you want a drink just ask and stuff, and i never really got smashed or anything, when i was young. And i know alot of people that are the same. I think the answer is in cool parents. Definately!
