Hmm, time for another post..how few and far they are..

I've had TPG 256k ADSL since March, haven't had any problems at all.. only downtime I seem to have experienced was a 5 min outage sometime in May.. :D

What sort if service were you expecting / are you getting? My downloads max out at around 27k, and I don't really have issues with it.

Then again. I was with AOL dialup before this, and I had nothing but compliments for their service. Maybe it's because I managed to suck about 9gig a month through a 56k..

"dodo, dodo, internet that dies"

i mena, they came out of nowhere, spending big showing loads of adds offering unlimited cable/adsl. DO you think they will last/be able to keep up with the demand.

Dodo use Comindico, as do most of the unlimited DSL guys(There are a few acceptions). Comindico is already, and will get worse, the supply and demand is bad enough, and they are already starting to throttle ports other than 20, 21 and 80.

I'm currently with Optus 3g plan, with a home phone line converted to Telstra and a Billion ADSL router/modem ready to crank. Problem I currently have is no one is really happy with their service, or their plans seem too good to be true (wait a few weeks, read whirlpool, and they ARE too good to be true).

I got close to signing up for DART, then found all these Comindico issues.

What I want is an ISP that has 512kbs, ~10-16 gig DL shaped after that, for < $90 a month, with no port shaping. Why can't I find that with reliable service!

hmm, isn't DART signing new customers up to the connect network, rather than comindico?? i think this is the case, unless/until comindico get their acts together and do their promised upgrades....

i seem to be one of the lucky ones who've escaped the comindico probs tho....haven't had any of the crap the sydney/melb users have been goin thru.........hmmm, i knew there had to be at least one advantage of living in canberra *lol*

Last time I looked into DART was before the 8th of this month, which was their offical cut over date last I read...Look @ how comindico was/is, they were great until all the leechers moved over; now it's , and all ports are throttled cept 4 the afformentioned, unless DART or whoever buys access to control Layer 2(which DART were doing as well if I remeber-and if they buy it, they will have 2 throll, or proiritize) the throttling will continue. Connect will share the same fate as comindico, at least in the long term unless something changes.

The way Telstra runs it (as well as Optus and Bigpond for broadband), leeching or P2P in massive ammounts will cost the network more money then they can make. AU does not have a good case history of providing a service and sticking to it. Either the ISP's over populate the service, or they lose money. Which is why I don't want to join unlimited in AU.

I thought they were throttling ports on comindico regradless of who and where, lucky for those not in Syd/Mlb if otherwise eh. :)

yup djway, i agree with everythin ur sayin :) BB here is pretty dismal compared to overseas....gotta love evil Hellstra!! But, after suffering thru dial-up the past 12 months, I'm glad to have my ADSL back, even tho it's not quite as good as it could be if the AU situation wasn't so crap....but, for $44 (we share between 2 of us) a month, I can't complain too much.........and yeah, I thought the Comindico stuff applied Aus-wide, but my ftp/p2p speeds have been a hell of a lot better than most ppl on comindico...so seems we are sumhow slippin thru the cracks in ye olde canberra towne *touches wood* *lol*

ahh maybe when I get back from my year in europe mid-2005, things will have gotten a bit better here on the BB front.....well, a girl can dream at least :)
