ZTD (Ze Trance Definition)

Très bonne définition de la Trance trouvé sur Music Discussion :

Je ne sais pas ce qu'en pense Lytchix mais ca pourrait etre sticky + locké non ?

quote:

Trance must be at least 137BPM to MAX 155BPM (any faster would be freeform or trancecore any less would be dance or house)

Trance that is at a slower PM(70-110ish) is known as Ambiant Trance. Often with a very slow 4/4 straight or break beat. Very melody orientred but with that electronic or experimental feel to it. Chilling and meditation music. Very nice IMO

137bpm = airwave - escape from nowhere (trance/progressive trance)
150 bpm = Weirdo - Vinyl warning (Hard trance)
160+ bpm - jet set and plastic angel - lost in trance (trancecore)

MUST be melody based with a constant build up (progression)
amidst can be build ups and break downs

can be a steady build or roller coaster
must have harmonic melody layers (as was said)

This is where many will disagree...
Vocals... can have but not to the point where it’s a song about something. should not have a message of any sort, otherwise its DANCE EURO CLUB DANCE etc. (will be debated im sure)

some vocals/lyrics are great, but really should be more about the sounds of the music itself.

It is very often regarded as todays classical music. and notice classical music is very melody driven with NO VOCALS.

Musically it is different : there are many great trance songs with vocals, but once the vocals are too apparent or give a message of some sort IMO it becomes dance music. Not that there is anything wrong with dance music, im sure its great, but it cant be classed as DANCE.

PROGRESSIVE AND PROGRESSIVE TRANCE ARE DIFFERENT!!!!!!!!

I cant stress this enough.
MOST TRANCE IS PROGRESSIVE TRANCE BECAUSE IT HAS A PROGRESSION TO A BUILD

I cant believe how the definitions for progressive have changed over the years.

Progressive is progressive is housy, technoy, not really melody based.

Progressive Trance is melody based.

If you are listening to a song that is melodic, emotional, and you think its progressive, chances are its progressive trance. If its 129 BPM chances are its house or dance - you see

here is where it gets messy with the whats what stuff, but i don’t know what progressive is cause I don’t listen to it, but i do know what trance is and what isnt trance.

anything with the above description with a breakbeat is breakbeat trance. Or trancy breaks.

a housy melody can be in a breakbeat, but will likely be a lower BPM -as house can have melodies but is slower BPM.

TRANCE MUST EVOKE EMOTION

THERE CAN BE GOOD TRANCE AND BAD TRANCE

PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS AGREE AND DISAGREE ON WHAT IS A GOOD TRACK, BUT IT DEPENDS ON HOW THAT

TRACK MAKES THAT PERSON FEEL.

A melody can be anything with more than one note working off another.

ie.[n] the perception of pleasant arrangements of musical notes
[n] a succession of notes forming a distinctive sequence; "she was humming an air from Beethoven"

Dance music and trance sound very much alike, but to me it seems that there is more

seriousness and effort in trance. Less about being social and more about absorbing the music.

quelques petis exemples au hasard:
Lolo - Extented horizon
Young Parisians - U Write The Rules
Airwave - Lady Blue
