| how does edm fans in the uk think of trance and listeners of trance music ? i heard that in the uk, supporters of a certain genre[ie. trance] of edm does not get along with the fans of a different genre[ie. prog, techno]or at least are to themselves, like there is no dance clubs that book trance djs, and progressive djs on the same night, that there are separate clubs for each genre of edm.. is this tru or somewhat tru ? and does the uk trancers like Solar Stone, Lange, Agnelli & Nelson, John Flemming, Steve Helstrip, Simon Berry, David Forbes and others get the respect they deserve from lets say Sasha, Diggers, Tong, Warren, and Fontain ? or get props from the media ? i ask this cuz i read in a magazine once[i think it was Muzik] that they bashed the out of trance like a few years ago and that led the masses to believe that trance is .. just curious of the uk scence as far as trance is concerned and how this artform is viewed.. thanx :) [please correct me if any info i provided are false, its gathered from what i read & hear..] |

ur thread looks all lonely with no replies...
here in the uk we dont generally decide who we like or dislike according to what genres of electronica they listen to. in this forum we have ppl that love trance, prog, techno, house, and some that like the lot. anybody who dislikes someone becuase they like a particular genre of music is simply a cock. although of course there is the minority of cocks around that do it anyway, just as there is anywhere.
usually in clubs there is one main genre (for example trance), but maybe a warm-up dj playing prog, or a last dj playing hard as f00k trance.. no club can ever say they only play one genre of music, and if they did, it would be a lie.
as far as artists respecting other artists.. so long as they are not a then they get respect from lots of people. media coverage for any uk dance producer who isnt packed full of cheese and is scarce. |

I don't believe Trance has any major media coverage in the UK. I don't, however, think that's a bad thing.
I don't think any minor (compared to house) electronica genre really gets a lot of mass media coverage like that here. As far as your average Uk joes is concerned dance music is dance music, they've heard terms like drum & bass, electroclash, garage and trance, but it don't mean to 'em.
"Sasha, Diggers, Tong, Warren, and Fontaine" Mmm those guys are a bit out of the trance circuit, the only one of those i've seen in the last year is Seb, and he was playing a funky house set at Pacha, Sasha & Digweed maybe, but on the whole you're only gonna get Thrillseekers and SolarStone dropped by the likes or Ferry or Armin if they're over, or smaller dj's like Greg Murray. |
