cutting up sets

Hey dudes,
Could you tell me what programs are best for chopping up sets using .cue files? I've got a whole heap of sets I want to cut but not sure what to use. Can you tell me where I can get them on the net? (preferrably free)
I notice everyone talking about Reason but I've got no idea what it is. Could someone fill me in?
I know, I know, I gotta get with the times. I'm pretty new to the site, I'm only now breaking my virginity! Posting virginity, that is.

Reason is a music production program, and not what you need at all in this situation.
I understand your question as meaning you want to write your sets, track divided, onto CD. If this isn't write, correct me and ignore the rest of my post ;-)
There's two ways of burning a set onto CD. Firstly you can use a wave editor to split your one big audio file containing your whole set into one file per track, then burn the tracks sequentially onto CD. You need to make sure your burner or software won't insert any silence between the tracks if you do this.
The other way is to use a program such as CDRWin that takes the big audio file with your whole set in and a cue file and combines the two when writing the CD. Basically, the cue file specifies where the tracks are divides, and you write the cue file in a text editor such as notepad. This is the method I prefer because it's quicker and easier than chopping the set up into individual tracks. |

Yep, this is what I use. Learning how to write cue-files isn't that hard. |

| hay i have the Mp3 cutter "MP3 Cutter v2.0" off this site but it dosent work with XP dose anny knone of a new virtion or somthing i can use insted |

here is a sample of the cue file I made for a oakenfold mp3. I think I had an old version of fireburner that only did waves so I converted then burnt, but try it with a mp3 extension instead of wave. It is not that hard to do, just find the time in winamp and substitute.

| The easiest program I've found is CD Architect. All you do is open up the wave and drop cd index markers. When you burn the cd it will index it with no delays between tracks. It wook me 5 minutes to figure out the program and 1 minute to index it. |

Hey if anyone's still reading this thread, thanks to all who replied, I appreciate it...
Well, I checked out what you guys suggested and did a little research of my own and I ended up getting a program called mp3DirectCut from http://www.rz.uni-frankfurt.de/~pesch/
Good program, simple and does the job, works in XP, although I am having a little problem with timing the end of the file (not as simple as it sounds...), but I've written to the author for help and will post his reply if anyone's interested.
