New Trance DJ

Hi everybody,

There isn't a lot of trance/dj forum in French, so i come here

I will post in english, sorry for the english but it's a google traduction of my french's text I post on other forum.

I would appreciate your tips, advice and guidance. I now want to mix a little in order to do so in the evening. I do not know too by my future, but I thought the PsyTrance or Progressive Trance.

Firstly my first question: How do artists usually occur? Are they a list of songs at home (created or picks), a result they spend making transitions? Do they make up each song on the spot, so choosing the samples of drum, bass, etc. ... by calling on stage then? Do they do all the set home, and merely adjust the treble-medium?

Then the trance is quite large and filled with derivative, I wonder if it is necessary that I turn to a field, I try to call from the, or I try to compose and that after I choose my orientation?

Feel free also to share my tutorials for a particular mix music, how to mix well, consider how to make attractive pieces, etc ...

I'm gone ru Virtual DJ Pro but I do not know if it is the best choice. I also heard about Ableton, Traktor is more powerful, etc ... do Virtual DJ Pro is useful to start without hassle?

What are the tools to buy? I already have perspective to offer me a not too expensive controller to see if I like it and to go to. But I do not see in what I should also spend money ...?

One last question, I have my speakers that are connected to my TV through the jack, which means that my pc plugged into my TV has HDMI out on the speakers. I also have a great headphone jack on the optical pc, is it possible to have like this and listening preview? So these are two different devices, I can put the sound on one or the other.

Here, I start with some questions, but surely I will keep this topic to date me if I start to get serious

Thank you, i know it's quite long ^^

Beginners will often use a pre-made list. It's the safest way.
More experienced DJs will be able to improvise on stage; this requires extensive knowledge of your music library.

Virtual DJ is all right to start with; it lacks special effects (you likely won't need those) and its EQs sound slightly bad compared to Traktor, but it's much easier to use.

Unfortunately even some of the big names seem to play virtually the same set & just change the odd track here & there

There's no magic solution, just listen to many many sets & try to work out how they do it - where they bring tracks in/out, how they do transitions etc then keep practicing & it will start to click into place Some things faster than others
