It's possibly the most important tool in terms of getting percs to sit well, IMO

i think it is a last resort measure that is always very heavy handed and as such, the last important to get it to sit. For an esthetic effect . sure. a mixing tool, you should fix the issue prior. ie just use another sample/

I just don't know any great mixers that bother with this type of processing. They do it to make a sample more lofi, or tighter, but as fas as fitting in a mix, nobody.

As you know I'll never be one of these truly great producers you oft' mention, but none the less I lurve fiddling with pitch. More about aesthetics than mixing really.

I am lazy and will just choose a different kick if it does not fit. Neither do I have the ear or patience for spending too much time on a kick since I am a piano man.

I use the pitch-knob on the FL Studio sampler. I love that sampler, it kicks anything NI has ever, or will ever, come up with to the ditch. Super simple, yet very powerful. And the delay section is pure sex.

I often tune percussion for a track as well, even if it's just to a root and fifth note. Especially if the perc is particularly tonal.

what do you mean it's what they're doing? can you explain or provide an example? just curious.
