Acting like the alpha male is only going to get you 1 out of the 8 types of women that there is out there... it wont work with everyone, that said it works pretty well when it comes to hooking up with sluts at bars and clubs

who said anything about acting like a douche? taking charge is not being a douche. being engaging in a conversation and throwing a few questions you don't really care about the answers to to her is not being a douche. Trying to make the case of being the best possible mate (aka the alpha male) is not being a douche. Of course we are joking around and throwing one liners and pandering, but alpha males usually get ahead in everything easier in life because they aren't afraid to seize a moment.

That sounds more like someone being extroverted than being an alpha male. I'm definitely the former and, as for the latter, the best ranking Greek letter I've got are the gamma rays from my computer screen

It doesn't mean you are obnoxious and douchey, it just means you know how to control a situation and tend to be the leader of the pack in a group of people and you get what you want without being a bitch about it.

That being said I am no where near being the alpha male in my group of friends who I head out with. However, I run with a pack of sharks who are lawyers, doctors and surgeons etc. who are good looking dudes to match their high paying salaries. However, you don't run with a pack of sharks without having that killer instinct as well so I may not have the high paying salary and the amazing good looks but I def have a lot of charm that has gotten me pretty far in this life. I'm more like a Benny in City of God then a drug lord.
