Never understood the fascination with dexter. Seems like the mainstream’s attempt to be edgy.

The book that it's based on was pretty good. The first season of the show was entirely based off the first book in the series, but there's been 4 or 5 more books that have been quite good as well. The last season of the show was a bit disappointing though. I don't like that Dexter may be starting to have feelings.
I like Dexter a lot because it delves into the psychology of being a sociopathic serial killer. I've always been fascinated with the criminally insane. It's not just a bunch of gay vampires running around being gay.
