It was most amazing thing I have ever seen. It was beautiful.

Can you imagine what ancient people thought when they saw that sort of thing? It was probably less "special" to them, since they wouldn't have had any knowledge of light pollution in the first place, but I doubt it was any less marvelous. It's no stretch to comprehend why they might conceive of so many pantheons and structural theories.
