Girl cats are usually pretty adorable, but I don't like their personalities as much as boys. Boy cats tend to be nicer and more well-behaved/susceptible to the dos/don'ts.

The last time I took my girl cat to the vet - and I'd never heard her hiss before - she got all growly and made that hilarious 'FSST!' noise- then proceeded to swat the vet right in the shnaz when he leaned down to peer at her. He calmly stood up straight, exited the room, and came back a few moments later with a bloody tissue on his face.

I'm sure it's mostly the breed/that she's half Himalayan, but our cat is very sweet tempered and gentle. She doesn't hiss, bite, or scratch. Sure, she hid from us when we tried to get her into the carrier - but other than that she took it like a champ and didn't freak out at all in the vet's office. She didn't even flinch when she got her needles.

She's a little hyper right now at certain times of the day (although that could be the catnip mice), but I expect she'll change after she gets spayed next week.

Really, she's probably kind of distant because she was a barn kitty for a few months and so spent most of her time with just her siblings rather than with people. She's affectionate, though only around me. You can also just barely feel her fur when you run your hand across her, she's so soft- I'd imagine that gives her quite a complex.
