Your friends will understand. If they don't, they're not your friends. If any of them require an explanation, tell them that it just isn't working out since you're not making any money at this - as much as you enjoy it - and you need to find a way to sustain yourself, hence why you're seizing this opportunity and moving.
It's as simple as that. Fortune favours the bold and all of that, and sometimes you have to cut people loose in life, especially when it's not working for you. Just try it. It's a huge chance, and a huge committment - and it may not work out, but it's obvious to everyone that you have a huge safety net and I'm sure that your parents would love to see that their son has actually committed to a great opportunity to offer him some independence.
