Yea see ours is for tuition only.
For the other stuff, there's a seperate government agency that you can apply to for help but getting money out of them is harder than pulling teeth.
Plus if your family income is decent and you still live at home, you're pretty much automatically out. As it should be really.
I don't want my tax money supporting lazy students who only take the money so they don't have to work part time like the rest of us did at uni.
that's basically how ours is, just combine the tuition and that other loan you're talking about together. it's also a bunch of bullshit to get that money as well because we also follow the same trends as you guys in regards to qualifications for the loans. you have to apply through a government agency online, and it's impossible for a student to get financial aid if they are under 24, living at home (dependent), or if their parents make decent money; unless the parent co-signs for the loan. mine wouldn't do that for me, so i had to wait until i turned 24 before i could apply. i've been independent since age 18, and since being laid off in 2009, i qualify for a shit ton of financial aid. w00t.
also if you're convicted of a drug-related offense, they won't give you aid either.
