heheh, yeah that scene is pretty nutz! he always has the crazy sets and cinematography in his movies, you can really see what his vision is when he's creating the film. he has a way with contrasting colours and shapes that is just amazing. examples: the inside of the space colony thing in 2001, where everything is white, with those oddly-shaped red seats, or the club in the opening of "clockwork orange" with the women-tables, the secret party in "eyes wide shut" etc. 
scorcese came somewhat close with "casino", it was very well-done visually. scorcese's stories are always intersting, and maybe more captivating on a mass scale. heheh proxi, i love gangster movies too . with kubrick's movies, you either love'em, or hate'em.
i really like both, but kubrick wins in my books...
