This doesn't make any sense. Call of Duty 4 remains among the best selling games on the PS3, with something like 4 million copies sold. Then there's Guitar Hero, which, combined with both PS2 and PS3, has sold like 6 million.
Then they say "we might have to stop supporting Sony due to disappointing sales."
Bullshit. Activision-Blizzard is currently the largest third-party games developer on the planet. They are using their big brother image to promote the fact that a price cut for the PS3 should have been made, and then issuing a threat that if one doesn't happen, they will pull support.
They are a multiplatforming company; if you weigh the amount of money it costs to port a game versus the sales these games receive on the PS3, it doesn't make any sense. I don't know how much it costs to port a game, but the whole point of porting in the first place is recoup expensive development costs. So now Activision is going to backtrack and subtract the additional 2-4 million copies that Modern Warfare 2 will inevitably sell on the PS3 because of 'disappointing sales'? What? That doesn't make shit for sense.
This is purely a big company trying to get their way, because getting their way makes them even more money. I'm all for a PS3 price cut, and YES, it should have happened...but a company saying 'if it DOESN'T happen, we'll pull support'...well, that's horseshit too, because even though the 360 is on top of the PS3, the PS3 is still raking in plenty of dough for the 3rd party companies. Dropping it would make absolutely no business sense.
But that's just a theory. What the hell do I know.
