So in order to protect my ears, I bought these puppies, for $10+the one dollar for the cord. Not a bad price for saving my hearing

I ordered em last week..got here yesterday. Needless to say I was impressed @ the speed, but I was confused that they send the little itty bitty package in a full 10' by 14' padded envelope. in fact I laughed @ it. Because the earplugs fit on a key chain.

so I took em out..and they are alot bigger than I thought. Like massively huge. It says to put em in to the third phlange, but I cant get em in that far, it starts to bother me. This is gonna ruin the 12 Db Cancelling isnt it? Either way..

the $1 cord I bought is never going to be used. I put the earplug in and walked...the sound of the cord rubbing on teh back of my shirt drove me nuts. I can only imagine myself dancing w/ it in.

So...I suggest you all go buy pair. $11 is well worth the price of your hearing. Just dont buy translucent red..cuz thats what I got.

wetting them..hmm..ill try that. I even did the 'pull your ear up and out' and it goes in further, but not up to the third phlange

Hey, as long as it blocks out enough noise -- especially the peaks -- it's fine. I can do the second or third, and both work great.

the first two phlanges fit in nicely, the third, rests just outside my ear canal. they took a bit of getting used to but my ears feel so good right now! no ringing or anything!

how much do these earplugs affect your mixing?

Well, seeing as how they should reduce sounds evenly, and mostly take away the dangerous peaks in sound.... i would say they wouldn't.

But you will have isolating headphones on a good amount of time anyway, right?

BTW, i'm speaking theory, not experience as far as mixing goes

It is a musician's earplug. It reduces all sounds evenly. Sounds are still clear, but everything is a bit quieter, and the loudest parts, the peaks of volume and such, aren't dangerous. You can still hear fine, the clarity is great, but the dangerous part of the sound is cut out.
