Now watch as a bunch of sheep run to the store and buy the same game for the 6th time; it'll be no wonder devellopers are afraid of trying new things.

Yeah, but don't these sports titles get like new engines every year?
What ticks me off is that they get away with releasing 2-3 hour singleplayer campaigns along with pretty much the same multiplayer experience for full price and people just eat it up. Call of Duty 4 should've been Call of Duty 2, and both world at war and this new one should have been content released WITH Call of Duty 4.

It's hard to blame them for exploiting the customers if they're stupid enough to keep on buying each new COD.

Perhaps, but I certainly can blame them for being unoriginal.

the shittiest thing about these updates is that, currently we live in a time where the internet allows one game to be updated largely ad infinitum, but that doesnt make money, or at least the studios dont think so.
especially with sports games, rosters can be updated yearly, just get a decent engine and use it for 5 or so years...the updates graphically arent enough to keep the educated gamer buying. unfortunately they make the most money off of the uneducated gamers out there|

I thought COD5 Pwned ass! The single player game was simply epic. (but short). If you break it down, I think it was easily worth $35 by itself. Add in another $15 for multiplayer bouts and custom maps..and yep, it was worth a $50 purchase.
I was so impressed by COD5 that I'll definitely be getting 6. You can't compare it to a sports games. All of the maps, story, sound, cinematics, and production value are very different (and improved) from COD4. Multiplayer needs some tweaking but I'm sure they will fix it with a patch.

in the franchise's defense, i think #4 is easily one of the best of its genre. ive only seen #5 on my mate's 1760s PC so im not sure i can compare.
i also think the UT3 engine is the best of its generation. they finally stomped ID into the ground, no contest.

Posted linky is not correct.
*sigh* I haven't even played 5 yet. I'm still waiting for the price to drop, or to just get it from Thailand after xmas when it will be $25. Not really surprised to see another one announced though. Gotta keep milking that cow.

Definately. I've been impressed by the volume of games coming out using that same engine and managing to look nothing alike.

In my two times that I've played World at War for about 15 minutes each, I felt it was Call of Duty 4 with World War II skins.
Not very impressive. I'm being short-sighted, I know. Just my initial impression.
