It's supposed to.
Now I wonder if PC/Xbox/Ps3 versions will be compatible online? That would be interesting.

I'm going to doubt it. Xbox Live is a closed structure, while the PSN and PC are open. In the past, they've tried to make PS3 vs. 360 online play possible, but it's never panned out, and I don't see SFIV changing that, despite how cool it would be if it did.
No worries, enough people will buy each of the versions that it won't matter in the long run.
Well, actually I question the success of SFIV on the PC...when has a fighting game really done all that well with computer gamers?

How often have they really tried though?
And this isn't just any fighting game. A lot of PC-only gamers today were into the SNES (you know, back when consoles were still cool) back when SFII was released, and aren't really into modern consoles, while alot of modern console owners weren't into video games at all when SFII was released. So it's hard to say where their target audience is situated.

Good point, but my problem is with the PC's lack of a controller. I mean, of course you can buy them, (you can buy any accessory for the PC as we all know) but are there enough people who have them to make the port really worthwhile? Are there enough people willing to play a fighting game with a keyboard? Or will people buy controllers to play this?
As for how often have they tried...well, the only time I can think of is once...Shadowrun for the 360 and PC. Though that may not count because both the PC and 360 versions were run using Live, whereas the PS3 uses PSN, an entirely different service. (and the game never launched on the PS3, so this example doesn't really count when considering SFIV's situation)
And also I believe 360 players on FFXI could play with PC players...at least I'm pretty sure...if that's true, then that makes two.

I'm actually considering getting a gamepad myself if the game turns out being really good. There's some pretty decent cheap ones for around 20-bucks. I just wish more gamepad-friendly games were coming out for PC, so it would make it a bit more worth it.

Truth be told. And maybe it will become a reality soon enough. With this whole "Games for Windows" slogan/campaign taking over, PC developers are really trying hard to mainstream PC gaming (for better or for worse is a different debate altogether), which might provide an incentive for game designers to produce software unlike the usual FPS/RTS/MMORPG fare that the PC usually deals with. Certainly that would make PC gamepads more popular.
That being said, the three primary genres in PC gaming that have true popularity behind them are FPS, RTS, and MMORPG...all of which are much better suited with a mouse and keyboard over a controller.
Only time with tell...

That's true. Then again SFIV is a counterexample, so is bionic commando: rearmed. Racing games also fare pretty well on gamepads. Now if only they'd bring wipeout HD to pc, I'd be all over it.
