well I know i'm really late posting this, but what the hell. Anyway, I just arrived in Sydney today and will stay for 1 week. So wanted to ask if there is any good party I should go to. Obviously, there is Tiesto Saturday AND Sunday (!?!), but I don't think that's my cup of tea when I read that it is being compared to TIC and that "these are concert productions and not all night dance parties so stay tuned to local news for official after partys" (from inthemix).
I'd rather go to a proper party and, well, party
So how about
Lost Baggage - Alex Smoke LIVE & Matthias Tanzmann
Saturday, 3rd May @ The Cross <<info>>
Would be convenient location-wise, as I'm staying in the area.
Or:
Club Club pres. Paolo Mojo (UK, 3-hour set)
Saturday, 3rd May @ Chinese Laundry <<info>>
Any feedback welcome

both of those parties will be grand .. nights at laundry are always a good time and the lost baggage kids know how to throw some pretty cool parties too
clubwise laundry is more dingy dark and underground feeling whereas the cross is a bit more well-lit and vibrant .. depends what your forte is i guess .. baggage also attracts an older crowd and has themed nights

re-read the blurb on inthemix and decided to go to Lost Baggage. It's techno (which is what I like best BY FAR), plus they have Murat - if that's the Murat I mean i.e. >>this one<<, then that's
1000 0000 Schwa (Beef Records)
0000 0200 John Devecchis
0100 0400 ALEX SMOKE LIVE (SOMA) 0400 0530 Murat
0530 0700 Emerson Todd
1000 1130 Betterdayz Soundsystem
1130 0100 Disco Not Disco
0100 0230 Mikey Miutante (Paradise Lost)
0230 0400 Frenzie

you sure? Do be honest I have to admit that I'm not sure what style he spins. I know he's done some parties with the Groovanauts crowd in the US (dunno if any of yoiu are familier with them, in the US there is some overlap with TA), which I why I assume he'd be more like prog. Correct me if I'm wrong. Again, my personal favorite music style is techno.

both events push good tunes
chinese laundry is split in 2, the cave and the "laundry" .. cave has been the hub for minimal/techno/general headcave music for a long long time whereas "laundry" room pushes more electro etc .. so you get a mix of crowds which seems to work but generally when im there i stay in the cave
if i had to choose i'd personally pick baggage, you cant go wrong with 3 internats .. plus the support lineup is solid and you have 3 rooms with different music policies to choose from as opposed to 2 in laundry, 1 of which plays jams you probably wouldnt enjoy
also mojo has been playing more techno'y type shit lately, along the same vein as his productions

OK just to let zou guys know, I did go to Bagage and it was really good. Got really busy only after 2. I didn't ike the main floor much, though, both Alex Smoke and Murat were somehow lame. The second floor however was top, very danceable minimal techno stuff, really good. So I was happy
Thanks again for your feedback
