what 3d app are you using... and are you putting your renders to the highest setting... becuase i use Maya for my work and i know it never looks like that, and on another note i would love to see your wire frames of these models

where do you plan to put your cdj's? On top? too me that looks like its going to be pretty damn high.

If you're building something bespoke, why not go flush like I did? It's a lot easier to hide the wires that way (and it's also somewhere new to hide pornogr.... ah, I've said too much.... :-)

The biggest flat area. Equipment will be a few inches short of elbow height for me (I'm 6'2").

Good point. I'm lucky in that the only new thing I'll get now is a DJM800 to replace my 600. But it also depends on what you're using to make it. As I used cheap stuff for mine (conti-board) it means that if I ever DO get a bigger mixer, I can just buy a new piece, get out the jigsaw, and cut a new template out for it.
For the sake of the £20 for a new piece of board, I think it's worth it. But, I get the feeling you're not gonna make this out of cheap stuff!
