there is a reason glass is better.
btw, bongs are very cheap to make, I don;t know about brand names or whatever but you can go to a lot of places in Canada and have the glass blower make you a custom one for like 30-50 dollars. that would be like 25-40 bucks US I would think. spend the money! the only reason headshops rip you off is because they think you will buy it at their price.
go into a headshop a few times, look at the bong you like, tell the guy you won't pay more than 30 or 50 or 60 bucks depending on the size, obviously nice work will be worth a lot more, but simple glass bongs should be around that price. the owner wants to sell it for profit, if nobody else wants it, he will give it to you at that price, please never pay more! bongs break, get chipped, get dropped 17 floors off of balconies by accident, etc. never spend too much guys.
I have gone into many shops in the US that are asking 150+ for a bong that in Canada I have seen for 70+
always cut the price in half for a reasonable offer. but not in the states! cut it by like 70% the bottom line is that bongs that don't have colour changing glass, or aren't designed with lots of detail, basically bongs that are not artwork, never cost more than 5 bucks to make! the owners of the headshops buy them in bulk for 10, 15 20 tops and sell them to you for whatever price you let them take you for. If the owner knows u don't neeeeeeeeeed it, and every other day you ask him, "hey man you gonna give that to me for 35?" Eventually he will take his 15 dollar profit just to get rid of you.
also, bongs over 2 feet are useless. they brake easier, you can't really walk around with them without smacking them into shit, girls are intimidated by large objects that resemble peni, etc.
