My Oldest is having her Sweet Sixteen next year.
I am paying for the band and Dj, $2000 there, plus she wants a Hummer Limo to drive her from the Church, her mother is Catholic, to the Hall. $1500 for the hummer. I am having an issue with all of this money. I don't mind making my child happy, its just that 3-4 grand on a Sweet Sixteen party is a little too much money for a few hours of fun and showing off to her friends. Plus I was offended when she did not want me to play a set. Her excuse: "dad. none of my friends like house music, they want to hear EMO and Hip Hop." damn kids. lol
I stressed to her that any other expenses will come out of her savings.......
but she is a straight A student, Is the President of the Student Body and Student Council. Is on a fast track to graduate when she is 17 and is already taking college courses.
Smart lil lady there, must take after her mum.
p.s. I used the word MUM to talk down to your euros/aussies level.
Here in the states, a mum is a flower you wear at homecomings high school football games. ha ha

I know huh? All I got for my 16 year old B-day was ... nothing, to come to think about it, I think I was grounded when my 16 came around... Snuck out the house and got caught at a girlfriends bedroom, at 3am.... but at least I was using protection.. "my mum's words"
On my 17th my Dad went half with me on my first Turntables and Mixer. Once he found out he could play all his old Benny Goodman, Ella Fritzgerald and all of his blues/jazz records he was all for it.
But I had to pick up cans/pecans and fix a couple of cars to get the rest.

Haha nice one it's a bit like buying the kids a games console as a present then instead of returning from the shops with some child game bringing back the latest edition of Fifa or Pro Evolution soccer.

Like I check out God of War and Gears of War, when I head over to visit the kids. when they are fast asleep at night, I throw on the Headphones and play on my sisters 48 inch HD TV.

Yes I heard she was turned down for auditions for being one of the Rasta gangsters in the film Predator two.

Kinda reminds me of the lead singer of Missing Persons (a great punk band from LA back in the day).
I'd take that as a compliment Lilth!
