Well, there has been a couple of nice trance tracks these last years, but not really that many consistent performers. However, go to discogs and check out the aliases of Darren Tate, Michael Woods, and Airbase. They all produce pretty good uplifting music.
If you want epic trance, download some of Markus Schulz's "Global DJ Broadcast" sets. He tends to play the best of the current crop, and sometimes even tell you the names of the tracks as he goes along, so you can go find those that you like.
But in the end, it's all about techno nowadays - and mostly as live sets/mix CDs. Trance was peaking in 95-98 as far as I'm concerned. These last couple of months, I've tried to buy some of those old CDs that I really ought to have bought years ago (but now they're hard to find ). I've managed to get music from Friends, Lovers & Family, Emmanuel Top, Chris Cowie (aka X-Cabs), and Jon the Dentist. Having this way gotten "old" tracks, that I never really heard before, I can confirm that it is not just nostalgia - trance was better back then.
