Actually, I don't think there's that big a crowd of newcomers here. I guess we're pretty good at scaring them away. Even re-newcomers such as arctic and Epicurus only lasts for a couple of days before disappearing into oblivion(COR ). Wonder why that is? Maybe we should have a sticky where people who "lurk" can post their "hi, I'm following the debate, but dare not post/think arguing on the internet is retarded/won't post for some other reason"? |
"hi, I'm following the debate, but I think you guys are losers who have no lives". I kid I kid . You guys rock. Occ got a small part of it right, although I'll make sure to kick his CMU pansy ass to the curb as retribution for his "amateur" comment when he comes to the Pitts for alumni gatherings. But seriously, when I post here, I want to make sure my position is extremely solid, or otherwise be willing to suffer the consequences. Usually, I stick to the former. When one's positions are furthermore in flux regarding certain issues, more research is needed to cement them before even thinking of posting something definitive. So instead, I continue reading and enlightening myself regarding certain topics than I'm passionate about with the intent of posting when I feel I've reached a level that's acceptable to me. In the meantime, I feed my posting addiction by whoring my local forum (Montreal) and starting drama in other local forums for shits and giggles. Click here (Note: most of the stuff in that thread is pure jokes and I don't necessarily adhere to any of the more philosophical positions touched upon in that thread, so don't come back and try to debate me about it )
Anyway, I still follow the debates, and will post soon enough, although it'll be more philosophically than politically oriented. Looking forward to debating with you guys
