It's a typical hot, muggy dc night. About 3 blocks from the bar we've begun to sweat profusely when we spot a deliciously inviting water fountain. Not only is it advertising with jets of cascading water, but it also affords a short cut of about 20 steps. Therefore since the water fountain had two pros, and I was too drunk to think of any cons, naturally I jumped into the water fountain. |
Knowing the nature of a muggy east coast night, I deem your action wholly rational. Next time I visit, I demand to be taken to the fountain.

Hey i like your new sig |
Me too. I used to have "show users' signatures" to "off", but since it got all political and funny, I've had to change my ways.

I decided against it, mostly because all the fun ppl i tried to get with me didnt want to go. blameing on jobs and stuff. whats wrong with them?! |
The very fact that you call people excusing themselves with jobs and stuff "funny", proves my point about Sweden being the epitome of dullness.

Nah you are not an alcoholic untill you start drink by yourself or something, makes sense to me at least! |

My old roommate and I became alcoholics at one point. We would be standing around our apartment at like... six in the evening... have class the next morning at 7, be in our PJs and start taking shots just because we were bored and we'd end up drinking til like 4am and miss class. Thank God those days are over. |
I disagree with both of your definitions of alcoholics. To me, an alcoholic is someone who shows physical signs of discomfort when denied access to alcohol. I often drink one or two beers with my dinner, and I have some friends where we might just look at each other and go "let's get drunk", drink insane amounts of alcohol, and then pass out. So I would be an alcoholic by your definitions, but still I had no problems when I moved to the US and didn't have a sip for more than a month. If I had an addiction that wouldn't have been the case.
(Btw. I'm not saying that I have a healthy relationship with alcohol, only that the label alcoholic should be reserved to those who've really put in the extra effort and earned it. Sortof like the racist label shouldn't be used as liberally as it is today.)

Although I'm kinda pissed, it's in all honestly extreamly stupid. Even though it was all a joke, it was some truth in it! And now when they closed our last place we could discuss that, it really feels kinda lika a do-as-we-say-or-we-will-get-rid-of-you.
Really, even tho some ppl seem to have problems to handle critisism, they shouldnt do that. Oh well, just my humble opionion. |
I tend to agree with you that it appears to be a stupid intervention. I asked in the sig-thread if there had been an actual problem, but I was ignored by the mods. Anyone knows the answer to that?

Can I reiterate how effective this is? I'm going to see PVD tonight and I'm still limping around like a gimp. Fuck knows how I'm going to dance. |
Seeing him in Central Park tomorrow. I'll tell him that you said hi.

Talking about that, where are the mods when you need them? | Probably scrutinizing signatures.
Oh yeah, Jesus you guys went insane this week. It'll take me a long time to go through all those posts.
