What to do when your car insurance cancels on you?
A friend of mine just got her car insurance cancelled, becuase she's deemed as a 'high risk' driver. She got into an accident a few months ago, she basically rear-ended someone, in addition to that she also has a couple of tickets. After all is said and done, she ended up losing 4 points. Now in order for her to be reinstated by her insurance company, she would have to pay $600 a month, which she cannot afford. She's called around and every place she's talked to, she was declined.
Basically she has two choices now, move from where she and simply not drive at all or pay the $600 which she cannot afford.
Have any of you been in a similar situation, what are her options? Do any of you know anyone who works at a car insurance company that can possibly help? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Welcome to my world....
have her look into an insurance broker that deals with Kingsway Insurance. Basically, u only have 2 choices, and they are the cheaper one.
I got dropped for 3 minor tickets, with only 2 points on my license. I'm paying $1800 for 6 mos, and thats for liability and life insurance only. Had to drop my collision coverage so I could get a cheaper rate. My car is 8 yrs old anyways.

Thanks for the reply, I will look into Kingsway Insurance.
What happens after the 6 months are up, does your rate change? How much were you paying prior to being dropped? I believe that her charge (of $600 monthly) does include collision coverage, but I am not sure.
Thanks once again.

Not only is it bad enough that they make a fortune on a mere possibility that you may get into an accident, but when you do, they double ass rape you. So in the end, what the fuck do you end up paying for? The whole industry is so shady, it disgusts me.

600 sounds pretty average for that record/age group... I have to pay $550 which is a "good" deal (or so they'd like me to believe... ).
Take RJ's advice and cry. Even if you lie, cheat, and steal, it's still almost impossible to get a good rate.
