GTR - Mistral (SV Digital Remix)

I've just completed a remix of the awesome GTR - Mistral. I've given a twisted edge to the lead synth and constructed some smart breaks later in the track. Any comments welcomed.

Hey this is pretty funky.

The percussion is very interesting and actually works well with the intro but perhaps I would consider developing it and building it a bit more. The kick also disapears a little when the pads start.
The bassline is nice and bubbly (Did remind me a little of a Danni Minogue track though).
Nicely put together but I can't help but feel that it's an instrumental of something. Pherhaps that was a little harsh as it's still a well put together little number but just needs a little something to bring it to life.

Hopefully someone that knows what they are talking about will give you some opinions. Also might help if they were familiar with the original unlike myself.

Nice piece overall though.

Cheers
Nem

Comments as I listen:

Cool assed percussions, but I don't like the kick much (especially the bit of reverb on it).

NICE bass sound. I don't like the immediate chord progression though, think you should ride the F sharp out some more.

Very innovative percussions, I'm a fan of em though could maybe use a couple of more highhat layers.

Hmm, not a big fan of the lead you use for the melody. Sounds really cheap and could be a lot phatter.

The percussions definitely sound way too minimal after the buildup, you definitely need a lot more layers in there to give the track a busier feel.

This has a lot of nice elements to it (the intro percussion is sweet as hell). I really think you should kill the bassline chord progression for the intro and outro though.

Cool track, very different and I enjoyed it.

Way way way too much phaser on the lead.
Lead is much too weak, phaser is really killing it too.
Percs are very nice.
Outro sounds dope.
Overall very nice.

Nice track. The bassline is simple but good. The percussions are the heart of the song. The main synth is the only thing that i dislike, don't know why but it doesn't have the same energy of the original.

I'm gonna make a remix of that song too. I'll post it here so wait for GTR - Mistral (Bouronna Remix).

So it's all about the percussions then! As for the lead synth i'd aimed for a trippy, twisted feel, not so much for energy. As an idea starting with the breakbeat I was told it sounding quite cool. Perhaps I overdid it with the effects, esp phaser and lost what made it work. I play around with this. Thanks for all your comments.

Worst advice i've ever heard in my whole life right there ^

Even if you don't think its a good production, that does not mean change the program you're using, that won't make you any better.

I like the unique approach, as someone said, a little bit funky.

But the lead, as said many times, is pretty weak, and somewhat repeatative (although that's not necessarily a bad thing, but a few people have mentioned the lead needs work, and if work is put in, it won't seem so repeatative).

As Sean said, could use a few more highhat layers, the highhat(s) that are there, is pretty obvious, it stands out way too much when I think it should simply supplement the sound.

I think someone also said adding a couple more layers might make the song sound busier, and if done in the right spots, it def. could improve the whole song.

Overall, not bad, but for me, personal tastes put the original ahead of this, sorry to say (me likes energy, but I tried not to let that bias my opinion).

I have to say I absolutely love this remix. Its far better than the original. Top class remix, you deserve far more praise than I can give.
