I had my speakers backed to the slanted roof at the start. I had to place them far apart from eachother. The stereo image was strange and it sounded hollow. Later on I decided to make a 90 degrees turn when I got the desk I have now. It was a major improvement. After that I added the foam to take a bit of the reverbation time in high freq range. I also added some foam on the opposite wall. Each step has been a major improvement thus far. I've been working like it is for quite a while now, and can't say with 100% confidence if the roof is causing problems. But when I decided on the 90degrees turn the improvement in sound was great due to the different placement. So at least it's way better than it was before .
Surely the slanted roof does something with the sound, mostly standing waves occur less from my knowledge, which is a good thing .
right now, i'm done buying equipment, and software. i still need a few knick knacks, like a spool of cable, and plugs... but i'm hella broke right now. -but super happy. this set up is a dream come true, finally.
actually, i would like to add a few more pieces of gear... but i will get by just fine w/what i have now. some of the crazy stuff you guys have here on the board, is tempting a relapse of G.A.S. - i really don't need anymore of that right now. my finances are already in ruins.

is there any particular reason why your speakers are on the floor, facing the wrong way?

yeah, no room to put them on the table. also haven't decided if i'm gonna tear into the wall and mount them or not, or find a different solution... even if did know how i was gonna do it, i don't have the finances available to do it.
their facing the wrong way to protect the drivers. my monitor is sitting on one of those krk v8's, it's also to big to fit under the desk... so if the drivers were facing out, and i accidentally kick one in, or something while playing the keyboard... i'd be pissed, the bass driver alone costs 100 dollars.
under the dj set up, the power strip is sitting on a 2nd pair of v8's, but they are facing each other.
needless to say, neither pair is getting any use right now. i'm just using my home stereo system to hear stuff for now.

i know what you're thinking...
i've been meaning to something about since last october or so... when i put together the computer that's in the pic. but, because of the whole daw fiasco, there has been a lot of changes in my set up. i bought some new equipment, and brought some of my old stuff out of retirement... so that hogged up all the money and room i would have used to do something about the monitor situation.
i was thinking about mounting them into the wall, but w/in the next month or so, i'll be done paying some debts. so now i think i'm gonna get serious about moving. -so i don't think i'll be mounting them on the wall after all...
Andrømeda: hahaha... all i need is an sp-1200. maybe an asr-10, or mpc 60/3000. -then it will be the ultimate hip hop set up. ;-)
ever since i first bought the mpc2k, and mc-303 back in 1997 i've been completely addicted to boxes. i have never owned a rackmount tone module/synth in my life.
