stage: best I've seen in calgary
sounds/lights/decorations were amazing
crowd was good too a lot more mature than most maxbell events it seemed
hatiras played a nice funky set, played space invader which was cool
mistress barbara just plain rocked it hard
lawrence and j00f we're by far the highlight of the night both had amazing sets, very impressed by both
dj modas live pa set was different pretty cool though
too tired to go into more details but to sum it all up it was an awesome party

ya the setup was the best i have seen
there wasnt even people though, i remember looking at the bleachers during magik and remembering how fucking packed it was, it was empty for this one... my friend paid $70 dollars the door
i think that says the lack of attendance right there
lawrence and fleming were both banging, i thought cary had the best set of the night though, overall a really thoughtout and excellent party
next up is bump n hustle 3

ok heres my proper review.
walking in the first thing I noticed was the obvious. theres nobody here(and its 11:45) The stage setup was just amazing. I hope they use this design in the future. It makes the whole arena sound soooo good, no bass echo, and it really cools the room down having the dancers split up in 2 halves.
So Mistress Barbara ws just ripping the techno up, slammin beats, which was great, but I was expecting a lil more funk a lil less hard. Not quite the techno I like (because I had no booze) Her performance get a 8/10
Christopher Lawrence came on next, and I really didnt know what to expeect. IF you gauged his set last year @ the warehouse as his norm, then you were fucking wrong(just like me!) He played amazing trance, some bangin shit, some well...bangin, not epic, not prog just pure bliss. The trance that I love the most. He danced, he smiled, and for the tiny crowd he put on a great show. TRuly Americas trance master..
He gets a 9/10, looses the point for the slow start(and because I cant rate it perfect)
John '00' Fleming. The one no show that stands out in the past 3 years of partying. Ive wanted to see him for a long time, and his set @ GKGG a few weeks ago only made my anticipation grow even more. BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG. Plain and simple, stomp your fucking ass off. He was more than I could have expeected, annd to me, him and lawrence together were the best music that this city has ever seen. To me, better than PvD. And thats fucking impossible. 00 scores perfect 10 on 10
to boot, I recognized 3 songs all night. I could only ID one.
Talking to J00F after the show, he didnt even know that he was a no show a few years back, I guess he had a dick of a manager.
Moda..I really expected this to be the hardest hour of the rave. I just wanted it to be over with so I could see Cary. Then he started that wicked PA of his and ya, it was pretty fuckin cool. I only liked the 1st half of his set, but by now I was no longer in the right state of mind, so my judgement was severly impaired. the score for his is N/A It seemed pretty good tho
Chang. The Changinator. Dj Feroshi. The guy who does so much for calgary finally got the closing set he wanted oh so much. And he did what he should have. Played the most beautiful trance. It was slower but so gorgeous. I hope the recording turns out OK, I would love to relive it. Cary was beaming like a little child. A DJ @ his first gig. The programming behind this set was very inspired and I respect him for planning as much as he did. Pete(seotonin) and I did what we felt was needed and when he was done, stood still and gave him the salute. Truly a master. he also get a 10/10
It was truly a wonderufl party. Had a much different vibe than most Max Bell parties. There was the definite lack of the hard aggresive music, and as much as I like that, this was something different. And to me, even better. It relied on so many more emotions than HH/HT. Just an amazing thing. Hope they do it again next year, you can bet ill be there.

I think there were a couple reasons there weren't too many people there, one was ticket prices were rather high for people who waited till the last minute $58 on saturday and $70 at the the door the other reason is that line up doesn't really pop out at you unless you know something about music, lawrence was probably the only name most people knew, I don't know how many people asked me who j00f was last night, if you compare that to canada day or magik with cosmic gate or tiesto that everyone knows I think that would make a big difference to
but personally I liked this crowd a lot better than canada day, yah there wasn't quite as much energy, but it seemed to me that the only people that stayed away were the 14-16 year olds for the most part, and you could actually walk around without stepping on toes or kicking water bottles all over, just my 2 cents
