All I do is read. Right now I am reading two books, one a fiction book involving cryptography (Cryptonomicon) and the other is sociological history of nuclear missile guidance development, focusing mainly on inertial navigation systems. |
Crytonomicon is such a geeky piece of shit. I got it for Christmas a couple of years back. The whole book masturbates over the concept of Van Eck phreaking:
quote: | Van Eck phreaking is the process of eavesdropping on the contents of a CRT or LCD display by detecting its electromagnetic emissions. It is named after Dutch computer researcher Wim van Eck, who in 1985 published the first paper on it, including proof of concept.[1] Phreaking is the process of exploiting telephone networks, used here because of its connection to eavesdropping. |
And it's incredibly boring story and character-wise.
