People who keep birds as pets are sick fucks.
Not really man, you don't even know the situation. My mom rescues birds because what happens a lot of the time is people buy these birds then realize how much work they are because they litterly have the brain of a 4 to 7 year old depending on how well they have been taught. Some people just can't handle the noise and attention the birds need and my mom is one of the channels people go through to find it a different home.
Another problem is these birds can live 80 years so a lot of old people can't take care of a 20 year old bird and again my mom is an outlet for these birds. She has kept some but she finds homes for a lot of them. The finches are not part of this process. Only the big birds.
She has never bought or sold a bird in her life. If the bird comes from being in a cage before it reaches her hands is it really sick for her to put the bird back into a cage. Letting it free fly is worse for a bird of these kinds. It wouldn't know how to make it outside. I could understand if she was trapping these birds and making a profit by selling them but that just isn't the case. She also lets them sit on perches and things of that nature so they aren't in the cage 24/7. She even put there cages outside so they can get real sunlight and every bird in the house has a window. So she is more of a rescue person, kinda like what people do with Pitbulls.

Right, except people who rescue pitbulls let them run around and play and live the life of a normal dog. They don't lock them in a cage. Birds are meant to fly, and putting them in a cage is cruel imo.

Yeah, it truely is amazing what these birds can do. One of my moms African Greys says: "Let me out of my cage or I'm going to call my lawyer". lol
Never seen a Mynah before. I just Googles them, I like the black and yellow one. What colors was your friends?

They do get to go outside their cage at my parents house. The issue is they were in cages before my mom got them. It would be more irreresonsible for her to just release them out into a city with trees. The bird is used to being watered and fed. She keeps ones she bonds with and finds homes for the most of them.
That is just what my mom does. But if your talking about the bigger picture that these birds are breed like the way cows are slaughtered and they just wind up in cages then even my mom would agree with you.
The point I'm trying to make is the system of breeding and caging birds is already in motion for years now so my mom does the best she can to give them birds to loving homes and the ones she has she loves a lot. They just can't live in the trees. There too colorfull as well and would be the target for Vultures.
If we could send them all back to the Tropical Islands where they belong then I'm sure anyone would feel that is just. But even those Islanders trap the birds and smuggle them in illegaly so the motion is already set, my mom just does what she thinks is best.
A lot of people who rescue Pitbulls keep them in cages for awhile because the dog has been abused and will fight with other dogs. So Pitbull farms have a lot of Pitbulls in cages.

That Moon picture is really cool.
I've spent the weekend with Giuseppe, we were at a UK festival today and it didn't rain. Extremely odd.

I know, right? Even Glastonbury is looking great... people are usually swimming to their tents or falling into giant puddles of piss by now.
